Owl always LOVE you!

So moving day has come and it is time for me to go back to the office for my day job! I have been working from home for 7 + months while our new space has came together. So the exciting part of moving back is personalizing our cubes and making them like home! After all we spend 1/3 of our day at work right?

I looked and looked and couldn't find what I wanted so I decided to make my own stuff! I made all these really cute punch owls and if you know me while I think punch art is cute, I really don't have the nerves for it most of the time! However with the new Silicone Craft Sheet it really makes it easy to glue all the little pieces together. So after I made all these cute owls I started working on a few desktop accessories . . . like this My Digital Studio 2 Hybrid Project using the calendar tool. It is so easy to use!

Moving into the holiday season I know that I will be looking for more and more quick and simple gifts for my friends. WHOO wouldn't love a cute hand made calendar for their desk?

So a few simple steps:
  1. Open a new MDS2 project - create your own size. My calendar is 3.5x5
  2. Select the calendar tool in the designer center - a great video from Stampin' Up! will walk you how to edit your calendar: http://mydigitalstudio.net/video/calendar-effects
  3. Create your starting month calendar and right click on it to change the size to 1"x1". Then copy and paste the calendar 11 additional times so you have 12 months.
  4. After you have the 12 calendars roughly place them and click on each individual calendar and change the month in the calendar tool in the design center.
  5. You can then use the align tool to make sure they are lined up horizontally and vertically.
If you are making a bunch of calendars as gifts you can have them printed professionally through MDS. For my projects I printed them at home.

The Hybrid part of my project:
  1. Trim your MDS calendar to 3.5 x5, layer it on a 3.625 x 5.125 coordinating piece of cardstock and then again on a 3.75 x 5.25 piece of coordinating cardstock. Take your layered calendar and add layer it on a piece of 4x5.5 that is the same color you will be using for your base in step 2.
  2. Take a piece of 4.25 x 11 piece of cardstock and score it at 5.5 & 8.25 that is the scores and folds that will make your easel.
  3. Glue your calendar layer on the bottom 2.75 section of your easel layer.
  4. Adhere your post-it note pad on the inside about 1/4" from the bottom. That is what will hold up the calendar part. Plus the card will fold up to go in an envelope for gift giving!
Ok so ways to get some  great deals on digital content visit the Stampin' Up! Clearance section on my Online Store make sure to select me as your demonstrator to get the discounted pricing. If you are more a traditional crafter there are also great deals on embellishments, ribbons and big shot accessories.

Candlelight Christmas Mini Scrapbook Class

This summer before convention I went to a retreat at my uplines house, the projects that we make there really help me with my classes over the coming months. This project was one that Wendy provided for us. She put out a bunch of designer paper and said pick your colors and we will make this together. It was fun because everyone did something different and we had to think for ourselves! Here is my version

So I decided that I would make this my kit for November and the Expo that I am participating in using Candlelight Christmas I am really excited about this project! I have actually had it designed and ready to unveil for a few weeks! What makes it even cooler is that the products coincide with the Stampin' Up! specials this month! Dates that Changed Our Lives FOREVER

When most people think of scrapbooking, they think about pages and pages of photos in albums that never see the light of day, but Scrapbooking is so much more. Scrapbooking can easily become part of your home decor. I have a 12x12 frame that hangs between my living room and kitchen that I change out for special occasions and holidays. But there is so much more and with the pinterest explosion I keep finding more and more ideas.

A few weeks ago I pinned a project that I wanted to do "someday" and my friend Jennifer commented on my pin and said she couldn't wait to see what I would do with it. So I decided to put one together for her.

I used My Digital Studio to create an 8.5 x11 Page. I put the birthdates of Jennifer, her husband Phillip, there daughter Charlotte and their wedding date. I used 2 different fonts to give a little contrast as well as some digital ribbon and embellishments. Here is a close up of the page before it was framed and embellished

Then I found this perfect frame with a clip. I embellished the clip with coordinating ribbon and antique brads and added an F for their last name.

So with the holidays quickly approaching time to put together some quick and cute and very appreciated gifts for your family and friends. I printed the piece on my computer at home and added a few embellishments that I had in my stash and the frame was about $12.

You can download a 30 day FREE trial of My Digital Studio (MDS) by clicking on the button on the right side of my blog, please make sure to select me "Elizabeth Martinez" as your demonstrator. My Digital Studio works with either your printer at home or you can have items professionally printed directly through MDS.

Enjoy!

Ball Game! Yanks!

Oh and you thought this was a stampin' blog???? Well it is post season and well I kinda get sucked in! So fortunately for you that the game only went to 12 innings! and fortunately for me my new Mr. October Raul Ibanez saved the Yanks big time tonight! So tomorrow I will celebrate by wearing my favorite Yankees shirt to work!! Oh an did I mention he stepped into bat for my least favorite Yankee???? That makes it even better!

Ok, I know that isn't why you are here!!! Today I am sharing another one of my 10-10-20 cards. This card features Perfectly Preserved and Orchard Harvest Designer Series Paper. I really love the bright colors of this paper paired along with a couple of traditional fall colors the brights just pop!

With Mason Jars being all the rage right now I think the timing of this set is perfect! Well that and the timing of Raul's 2 homers tonight! Can you tell I am a little happy??

For this card I stamped the jar onto a piece of clear plastic and used the coordinating framelit to cut out the jar shape on the Island Indigo layer. Before I attached the clear plastic piece to the back side of the Island Indigo I used it as a template for stamping one of my pears. The 2nd pear was stamped and cut out using the framelits and then attached to the front of the card using a dimensional.

Enjoy!

Playing Catch Up!

I think that I have had a class every week for the past 3-4 weeks so I think it has all started to catch up with me! Sorry I have been MIA because of it! The weekend before last I had my 10-10-20 class so I will be sharing a few of my cards over the next couple of days!

Since I will be up to my eyeballs in Christmas Card designs over the next few weeks getting ready for my Holiday Stamp a Stacks I will share a few fall cards!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the embossing folders for the Big Shot - I could use one on every card! This card features the Spider Web Folder (Item 120889 - $7.95)

This card came together pretty quickly with a few punches a little stampin' and embossing. One of the tricks to hosting a 10-10-20 class is making sure that I don't duplicate punches and stamps from card to card so if you follow me you know that I LOVE the Dotted Scallop Punch as much as I do my Big Shot. Do you see the little scalloped edge? Well that is ribbon glued to the back of the Spider Web layer.

I hope you enjoyed my card and I will be back tomorrow!

Plus my buddy Rhonda had her meeting and shoebox swap on Monday night! So I have lots to share over the next couple of days!

You will have to provide the image for the picture insert, your kit will include the elements to make the flag embellishment.

Sweet Treats! Cookie Press

I have been very busy in my studio of the past few days, Saturday was my first card class in a long time! So every spare moment has been spent getting ready for it. Next weekend will be my Printer Tray Class so I have been crazy busy designing Thanksgiving and Christmas inserts (to be shared later this week!)

So Saturday morning before my class I decided to bake a few cookies in honor of my return to card classes. I literately started these cookies an hour before class they are so easy! In my defense I did by refrigerated cookie dough, but I think next time around I will try the shortbread recipe that comes with the stamps.
