That last couple of months have been a big adjustment in the Martinez house. Our youngest, Ace headed off to Iowa in August to start freshman year at William Penn University. For the first 4-5 weeks all anyone would have to do is say his name, ask about him and the tears would start. The funny thing is when he was here at most points we were at each other’s throats!
Today I picked him up from the airport for his first visit since being off on his own. It really is like an early Christmas Gift, only because I have told everyone that Acey is everyone’s gifts this year since airline tickets are so pricey. So I will sit back and enjoy the season this year, decorate the house, make some beautiful creations and mainly be thankful for my friends and family . . . plus I guess that I will have to have a couple of classes to help the "get Ace home from Iowa fund".
My share today is a continuation of my nontraditional colors. I love how this turned out, the soft of the Pool Party and the Pink Pirouette and the contrast of the Basic Black. The background on the DSP is created using the stencil made when I punched the snowflake out. I used a sponge and the versa mark pad and sponged on the snowflakes, embossed with clear embossing powder and then sponged over the embossed snowflakes with Pool Party and a sponge. The punched snowflakes are embossed with buttons and antique brads. I think I see a variation of this in an upcoming card class.
Enjoy the card and I think I will enjoy my son for a couple of days before he heads back to Iowa!
